Ava Holds Her Ellie!!!

Ava got to hold her baby sister for the first time this passed week. She was all about business, and took it VERY serious. They are so cute together. Ellie definitely recognizes Ava's voice, and Ava loves spending time with her. Ava can't wait to bring her Ellie home. When Ava holds her, you can notice how truly teeny tiny Ellie is. She almost looks like a little doll!

Weekend Update, April 5th & 6th

Ellie is looking and doing really well. We tried breast feeding for the first time this weekend, it was really amazing. She definitely was interested, but didn't quite grasp the concept of sucking and then swallowing. She pretty much sucked a couple of times, and then spit the milk out. She did much better than Ava did the first time. The nurse told me that premies typically are better breast feeders, they just go with the flow. Term babies have a little more sass, they know what they want, and they want it right that moment. Regardless, the feeding issue with resolve itself in the next few weeks, she is such a smart little Noodle (Ava's nickname for Ellie). She weighs 3 lbs 7 ounces, and they moved her out of the incubator and into a regular old basonette. They are no longer tracking her oxygen saturation, she has been doing really well bouncing back from any episodes of apnea on her own. She is beginning to look like a healthy new born, although she is still quite tiny. When she is awake, which has been more frequent, she is more alert and responsive. She is on her way...
