Monday, March 31 Update

Ellie made some huge progress today. They took out her lung tube, and sutured her side. She was taken off the photo therapy, as her bilirubin levels have decreased. Her feedings have gradually increased from a teaspoon to half an ounce in the last 24 hours. She seems to be digesting just fine. They will continue to increase her feedings as she tolerates them. Her Co2 levels are good, and she has had no distress in her breathing. She is considered to be stable now, and we are hoping that this week she will be downgraded to less critical care in the NICU.

I got to hold my beautiful Ellie for the first time today!!! We snuggled skin to skin, and she did really well! She fit down into my shirt and slept on my chest. I am so excited to make this a part of our daily routine, and bond with her outside of her incubator.
